Prep Now for Ski Days and Après Nights in Glenwood Springs

  • November 21, 2025

That cascade of flurries outside your window is your sign: now is the perfect time to plan your ski season vacation in Glenwood Springs, home to slopes, springs, and so much more. Planning ahead will make your winter getaway feel effortless—just like a dreamy cruiser run on a Colorado blue sky day!

The Big Picture View

family walking downtownEven if snow isn’t piling up outside your front door, it is accumulating in the Colorado mountains. In Glenwood Springs, Sunlight Mountain Resort is gearing up to welcome a new season of skiers and riders. With two new lifts this year, the hometown resort has elevated the slopeside experience, and you can already purchase your lift tickets online.

When it comes to where you’ll unwind after a day on the mountain, Glenwood Springs offers an abundance of lodging options. But as those powder-day reports start making headlines, rooms fill quickly. Booking early is highly recommended, especially for holiday and school break visits.

As for post-slope or off-day fun, Glenwood’s hot springs are the town’s go-to après-ski activity. Depending on your geothermal preference, you may need a reservation, another detail worth securing early to ensure a blissful soak later.

Nail Down the Details

Purchase Sunlight Mountain Resort Lift Tickets

This family-friendly resort delivers welcoming vibes, affordable lift tickets, varied terrain for all abilities, free parking, and quick-order food service to get you warmed, fueled, and back on the mountain.

The fastest way to the slopes is to purchase your lift tickets online in advance and pick them up at the resort. Last season, Sunlight transitioned to contactless RFID tickets, no more fumbling for your ticket in the lift line. Place your RFID ticket in your left jacket, pants, or glove pocket, and it will automatically scan. Just load up and go.

This season’s big news? Two new ski lifts offering greater capacity, faster speed, and more comfort between runs. That means even more laps in your ski day!

Book Lodging Reservations
After a full day on the slopes, settle in at one of Glenwood Springs’ many skier-friendly accommodations. Options range from historic and boutique hotels to national chains and independently owned lodges, ensuring the right fit for every style and budget.

Reserve early, especially around holidays and school breaks, when availability tightens up. Skiing families should also explore Ski Swim Stay packages, which bundle lodging, lift tickets, and hot springs admission for a seamless, budget-friendly vacation. Best of all, with the package, kids 12 and under ski free at Sunlight with a paying adult!

Make Time for Hot Springs
Glenwood Hot springs pool in winterGlenwood Springs is home to the best après-ski in Colorado, thanks to its one-of-a-kind geothermal amenities. The historic Glenwood Hot Springs Pool offers a classic soak in one of the world’s largest mineral pools, now featuring five new contrast-therapy pools that go to work relaxing tired muscles.

For variety and serenity, Iron Mountain Hot Springs boasts a collection of mineral pools overlooking the Colorado River. Choose “Select Access” for entry to the Legacy pools, perfect for families and groups. Adults 21+ can opt for “Premier Access” to experience the globally inspired pools in a tranquil, adults-only environment. Reservations at Iron Mountain Hot Springs are required, so book ahead to secure your spot.

For a different take on geothermal relaxation, slip into the Yampah Spa & Vapor Caves, where natural steam fills the historic underground caverns. The mineral-rich vapors simultaneously provide a natural full-body detox and soothe sore muscles. For added bliss, book a massage or spa treatment (most include admission to the caves). Reservations are required.

Other Après Options
Vaudeville Revue ShowBeyond hot springs, Glenwood Springs has an après scene as inviting as its warm waters. Toast your ski day with craft cocktails or local brews at restaurants, distilleries, and breweries. For a night of laughs, catch a show at the Glenwood Vaudeville Revue. And if you’re still going strong after dark, pool halls and dance clubs keep the energy up long into the night.

Plan Now, Play Later

A little planning now ensures your Glenwood Springs ski vacation unfolds smoothly once the snow flies. Book early, lock in the fun, and get ready for your most effortless—and unforgettable—ski season yet.
