In addition to their sell-out October Ghost Walk, passing on the stories of Glenwood’s past to curious new generations is what the Glenwood Springs Historical Society and Frontier Museum are all about. Exhibits at the Glenwood Springs Historical Society and Frontier Museum showcase what life was once like for residents and visitors in Glenwood Springs.

Ghost Walk Tickets are going on sale every year in early October. Buy tickets here: www.glenwoodhistory.com

The Frontier Museum

Enjoy a visit to a furnished, 1905 Victorian style house; discover more about ranching and mining in the area; learn about the Ute Indians and their connection to the region. In time, as the hot springs were developed, Glenwood Springs became a place for the world’s privileged class and attracted a diverse array of characters that included entrepreneurs, presidents, outlaws, gangsters, movie stars and more.

The Glenwood Springs Historical Society  offers self-guided walking tour pamphlets; a map and accompanying text take visitors through Glenwood’s western history while strolling through the downtown core and surrounding neighborhoods. Be sure to leave time to hike to Linwood “Pioneer” Cemetery where outlaws John “Doc” Holliday and Harvey “Kid Curry” Logan are both buried.

During the month of October, the Glenwood Springs Historical Society and Frontier Museum hosts its annual Ghost Walk through Linwood Cemetery when the ghosts of Glenwood’s past return for a few evenings of entertainment and education. The Ghost Walk is family friendly, and while a spirited air of spookiness surrounds the event, the “ghosts” are portrayed by actors who bring a magical quality to each performance. They also impart interesting historical anecdotes about what it was like to live in Glenwood Springs in the late 1880s to early 1900s.
