Glenwood Hot Springs Resort Revamps Guest Rooms and Plans for a New Boutique Hotel

Newly renovated room at Glenwood Hot Springs ResortIconic Glenwood Hot Springs Resort is getting a major upgrade. After successfully introducing the Yampah Mineral Baths in May, the resort has announced plans to renovate all 107 guest rooms in the Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge and launch a new boutique hotel named Hotel 1888.

Renovations to guest rooms are underway and set to be completed by Spring 2025. Work will progress in stages, ensuring guests can enjoy the serene accommodations throughout the project. The historic sandstone bathhouse, the former home of the Spa of the Rockies, will be transformed into Hotel 1888, a boutique lodge offering 16 luxurious guest rooms. The moniker pays homage to the resort’s opening date, July 4, 1888, and is set to be a sophisticated, upscale, and intimate overnight option for visitors to the hot springs resort.

Hotel Denver Becomes Hotel Maxwell Anderson

New Atrium of the Hotel Maxwell AndersonAnother historic property in Glenwood Springs has switched things up. Formerly known as The Hotel Denver, the property has been renamed Hotel Maxwell Anderson and has undergone a significant transformation that included modernizing all 73 guest rooms, suites, and public spaces, and adding 17 new rooms.

The lobby, a popular place for gathering, has been redesigned and now features plush furnishings, an impressive floor to ceiling fireplace, and modern design elements. Guests can also expect new in-room food and beverage services from the adjacent Glenwood Canyon Brew Pub, to further enhance their stay.

The new name pays tribute to the town’s railroad history. According to the hotel, in addition to having a family connection, “Maxwell Anderson” also represents a fictional train conductor who once rode the rails in the early 1900s and heralds the hotel’s storied past. The property has maintained many elements that harken back to the town’s railroading past and some Hotel Denver mainstays, all while incorporating modern furnishings, improved technology, and new amenities to enhance the guest experience.

Chef Terry Allen Joins Hotel Colorado

The historic property recently welcomed Chef Terry Allen as its new Executive Chef, who brings over 30 years of food and beverage expertise to the table.

Allen has an impressive resume, with experience in luxury resorts, restaurants, and historic properties across the country, including the Little Nell in Aspen and the Sheridan Inn in Wyoming. He is already making his mark by developing exciting seasonal and holiday menus and overseeing all food and beverage operations at the hotel.

With Chef Allen’s focus on Colo-Mex flavors, guests can look forward to enjoying traditional Colorado dishes made with high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients at the Hotel Colorado Restaurant & Bar. The relaxed atmosphere of the hotel’s dining venues is ideal for happy hour drinks and tapas, a beautiful al fresco lunch with friends, or an intimate dinner for two.
