Locals have eagerly awaited the opening of the new taproom of award-winning sour beer brewer Troy Casey, in downtown Glenwood Springs. Located in Bethel Plaza under the Grand Avenue Bridge, this drinking establishment is modern and minimalist. A sleek digital screen displays the current offerings on tap. Recent selections have included signature sours, house and guest taps. Enjoy 4 or 8 oz. pours for most sours and up to 14 oz. pours for other selections. In addition to the taproom, Casey Brewing & Blending also conducts brewery tours, which include tastings on the first and third weekends of the month. Tours require reservations and tickets and can be purchased on their website.
Cooper Wine & Spirits
Located at the corner of Cooper and 8th, owners Kevin and Sharon Brady have made a name for themselves for their amazing selection of beer, wine and spirits. Every Friday and Saturday from 5 to 7 pm. they host a free tasting. Depending on when you stop in, you might be sampling a French Cote du Rhone, a Spanish Rioja, a Tuscan Chianti or a California Pinot. In addition to the wines, the shop also offers distillation tastings, including gin, bourbon, whiskey and tequila samplings. Glenwood Canyon Brewing Co.
Another award-winning Glenwood Springs brewery makes its home on the ground floor of the Hotel Denver. Since 1996, Glenwood Canyon Brewing Co. has won 23 major brewing awards; most recently a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival for its Shoshone Stout. Brewmaster Todd Malloy has created a menu of suds that keeps locals and visitors coming back for more. In addition to crowd-pleasing favorites—Grizzly Creek Raspberry Wheat, Hanging Lake Honey Ale, St. James Irish Red Ale and Vapor Cave India Pale Ale, which can all be sampled as a flight—the brewpub also features seasonal selections. Their aβ (alpha-beta) Project is all about experimenting with ingredients and new techniques; one dollar from each pint goes toward ALS Therapy Institute research.
Glenwood Springs Brew Garden
Located in the North Glenwood neighborhood along 6th Street, not far from the Hotel Colorado and the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, this lively taproom features entertainment most nights of the week, lawn games, old-fashioned arcade games as well as classic board games like chess and checkers. In addition to a dizzying array of rotating brews on tap, the Brew Garden’s food truck serves up mouthwatering eats. Hint: don’t miss Thursday steak nights. To sample a flight of beer, choose any four on draft for just $7.50.
Riviera Supper Club & Piano Bar
Riviera is the only bar in town with a multitude of wines on tap—yes, wines! With such an extensive selection, you can enjoy a gourmet dinner and sample everything from a Willamette Pinot to a Loire Valley Sancerre by the glass.
