How to Acclimate

The elevation of Glenwood Springs is 5,761 ft./1,756 m. above sea level. Most people will have no trouble adjusting to our altitude, but altitude sickness can affect people of all ages and fitness levels. Signs of altitude sickness include headaches, dizziness, diminished appetite, nausea, fatigue, and insomnia. The best remedies for traveling at altitude are also the simplest: stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity and give your body time to adjust. If you know you are susceptible to altitude sickness, visit with your physician before arriving for medications that may relieve symptoms. If symptoms do not abate within a few days after arrival, visitors should check in with a local medical professional.
