PADDLE BOARDING IN COLORADO

Surf’s up in Glenwood Springs, try standup paddle-boarding on the Colorado River. A challenging way to enjoy the beauty, stand-up paddleboards (SUP) are an oversized surfboard coupled with a long outrigger-style paddle that originated in Hawaii.

The Colorado River around Glenwood Springs has plenty of calm places to practice. For visitors who want to take their skills to the next level, the Glenwood Springs Whitewater Park offers new challenges to master and an audience of spectators. Paddle-boarding in Colorado in the experience of a lifetime!

Golden Rules of Stand Up Paddle Boarding
  • Always plant the paddle blade in the water before taking a stroke. Doing this will give boarders more power and stability.
  • Assume the ready position, that is, feet shoulder-width apart, knees bent and back straight.
  • Keep arms straight and engage core muscles when paddling.
  • Attempt to keep the board as “quiet” as possible in the water. If the board is slapping the water readjust feet and leg positions.

Explore all the things to do in Glenwood Springs; there is something for everyone and a new adventure to be had every day.
