EXPLORE THE RIVER ON A “DUCKY” KAYAK
Inflatable kayaks, also known as duckies, are ideal for one or two people. The ducky experience is more physically challenging than rafting, but that’s all part of the fun. Forgiving and easy to maneuver, duckies are ideal for recreating on Glenwood’s rivers. For those with an adventurous spirit, they can even be more fun than rafting because the person at the helm is in complete control of the boat. They ride low in the water and are considered very stable, even as they pass through some of Glenwood’s splashiest rapids. Glenwood’s outfitters provide visitors with several ducky options, including renting the inflatable boats for self-guided trips or choosing a follow-the-leader guided tour. Rental companies will help visitors determine which rivers and what sections of the river are safe and suitable to run. Most companies also offer a shuttle service.
RAFTING & KAYAKING OUTFITTERS
Though skilled boaters can navigate their own kayaks, most visitors choose to take a guided trip, led by an experienced guide who not only knows how to “read” the river but can entertain guests with stories about the area. Outfitters offer a variety of half-day or full day trips, and many companies also combine kayaking & rafting with other adventures like cycling or zip lining.
