Indoors or outside, manmade climbing surfaces are ideal for skill building. In a friendly, encouraging setting, people of all ages can learn the sport and practice newly acquired skills.

INDOOR CLIMBING GYMS

The climbing wall at the Glenwood Springs Community Center offers top rope, auto-belay routes on a surface that simulates many features of actual rock, including multiple small crack climbs. This wall also has 20-30 bouldering problems for non-roped challenges.

Perfect for many ability levels, the wall has built-in routes that follow the contours of the rock ranging in difficulty from 5.10 to 5.14. Entrance fee is required, hours vary.

Groups looking for professionally facilitated adventure experiences are welcome on Colorado Mountain College’s climbing wall and high ropes course. Advance reservations are required. The climbing wall offers a broad range of routes from beginner to expert. There are six top-ropes and dozens of bouldering problems capable of accommodating up to thirty people at a time.

OUTDOOR CLIMBING GYMS

Glenwood’s two outdoor climbing walls are part of larger action and adventure destinations. The climbing wall at Glenwood Canyon Resort, just east of Glenwood Springs at the No Name exit, is included in activities packages that bundle ziplining and a high ropes course.

The abundant challenges of the 40-foot climbing wall require participants to problem-solve their route to the top.

Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park’s climbing wall is included with the Park’s all-day fun pass. The circular 32-foot climbing wall offers five challenging routes, and is just one of many activities available at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park.
