School Days: Perfect Time for a Couple’s Getaway

The kids are finally back in school, the summer travel rush is over and the weather couldn’t finer. It’s the perfect time to plan a relaxing couple’s getaway to Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

What’s almost better than the sound of a champagne cork popping? The peal of school bells ringing through every city and suburb in the land. That’s right, for couples looking for a quiet, romantic retreat, back-to-school season is music to the ears for those seeking a mini-break for two. While children are diving into their education this fall, couples can immerse themselves in geothermal waters and all that Glenwood Springs has to offer, free from the pitter-patter of little feet.

Grown Ups Need Time Out Too

We’re all for kid-friendly places, but sometimes the adults need room to roam on their own. With kids back in school, adult visitors to Glenwood Springs have the run of the town. There’s more space just about everywhere you go, from pool decks to dining establishments.

With the onset of classes, the competition for loungers at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort and Iron Mountain Hot Springs has decreased significantly. Pull up a chaise and relax in peace and quiet. Splash-free zones that increase proportionately with fewer youngsters in the water is another fall-season perk. Fear not, with school in session, you can safely read your book poolside or sip a cocktail in the hot springs without worrying about unwelcome sprays of water dousing your leisure time.

Dining out on the town also becomes more adult-friendly everywhere you go in Glenwood Springs. Shorter wait times, a restaurant staff that is less harried and more attentive enhances every meal no matter what’s on the menu. Enjoy every bite without distraction whether it’s casual street tacos or a fancy steak dinner.

One-on-One Outdoor Education

While the kids are hitting the books, couples can hit the trails and experience Glenwood’s natural wonders together. Beautiful fall weather is conducive to romantic outdoor adventures. Stroll hand-in-hand exploring the shopping opportunities around town or go farther afield on hiking or biking trails.

Outdoor activities are more relaxed and easily accessible in September and October. With less demand, it’s easier to purchase permits to hike Hanging Lake in Glenwood Canyon as well as make reservations to soak at Iron Mountain Hot Springs. Fewer people in town ensure there is always a bike available to rent at the local cycling shop when you want to ride the riverside side trails along the Colorado or Roaring Fork rivers.

If you’re not one to queue up, now’s your chance to jump to the front of the line at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park for fast access to thrill rides and cave tours. School days are also an ideal time to spend with expert outdoor enthusiasts engaging in guided activities like rafting, fishing, horseback riding and off-road motorsports.

Top of the Class

As the sound of school bells calls the kiddos to class, pop the cork on that bottle of champagne and raise a toast to your well-timed, adults-only getaway to Glenwood Springs. Learn more and make plans to visit Glenwood Springs today!
