Fresh Location Sets the Scene for 125th Strawberry Days Festival

Strawberry Days is Glenwood Springs’ signature summer festival. After a two-year hiatus and with a new location at Two Rivers Park, the event feels vibrant and new just like a juicy, fresh-picked strawberry. It’s a treat you won’t want to miss.

Glenwood Springs’ Strawberry Days on June 17, 18 and 19 is among the oldest civic festivals west of the Mississippi River. In 2022, after a two-year pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Colorado’s premier hot springs town is pulling out all the stops for the signature event.

Strawberry Days Relocates to Two Rivers Park

This year, Strawberry Days celebrates 125 years of entertaining generations of families and friends. The new location at Two Rivers Park sets the scene for experiencing the historic festival in a whole new way. Festival-goers can look forward to more room for exploring artisan booths, noshing on festival food and beverages, and partaking in activities and entertainment. Providing a scenic backdrop to the three-day event is a landscape of gorgeous views that include Red Mountain and the Colorado and Roaring Fork rivers.

A Weekend Full of Things to Do

A festival favorite event is the artisan craft fair that features vendors from around the country selling one-of-a-kind wares, everything from gourmet sauces to fine art. It’s the perfect, one-stop place to stock up on birthday, wedding and even holiday gifts you won’t find anywhere else.

Another delight is the food court, guaranteed to please even the pickiest of palates! Choices range from lighter fare such as mangos, crepes and mini donuts to heartier options of barbeque, Mexican and loaded potatoes sure to satisfy big appetites.

When it comes to entertainment, there’s also something for everyone. Family Fest welcomes kids to get creative and have fun with interactive crafts and entertainment. Highlights include a mini train for kids to ride, a circus featuring talented human performers, and a dance troupe versed in charming audiences of all ages.

At its heart, Glenwood Springs is a small town, and nothing demonstrates that better than the Strawberry Days Parade on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Most of the town turns out to flank the route and wave as floats, horses and fire trucks stream past. This year, instead of marching up Grand Avenue, the parade route begins at Glenwood Springs High School and follows Pitkin Avenue to Eighth Street. After the parade it is a long-standing tradition for visitors to queue up for free strawberries and ice cream until it’s all gone!

It wouldn’t be a festival without upbeat foot-stomping music. Playing throughout the weekend at Two River’s Park Main Stage is a music lineup of superb entertainers including local and regional artists. The Saturday night headliner is the Portland, Oregon-based band, MarchFourth. The larger-than-life group brings the spirit of celebration with a groovy explosion of brassy funk, rock and jazz sounds.

More than One Way to Get to Strawberry Days

One of the best attributes of the new location at Two Rivers Park is better access and transportation for festival-goers. Rio Grande Trail makes it easy to walk or bike to the park. There are also several parking lots located nearby where visitors can park for free and walk a short distance to the park. The bus is another great option. Ride Glenwood is free with stops throughout town and drops riders close to the park. The bus service has extended hours to 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday of Strawberry Days. For those with mobility issues, there will be ADA parking at the event as well as pick up and drop off via The Traveler, a van for mobility-impaired individuals.

Strawberry Days is a Glenwood Springs summertime treat that has been reimagined for 2022. Don’t miss this one weekend only Colorado festival. Learn more about Glenwood Springs and make plans to attend Strawberry Days today!
