Friday, Nov. 15 – Friday, Feb. 28

Celebrate the end of the work week or the beginning of a weekend getaway to Glenwood Springs with live music in the mountain-top Lookout Grille every Friday afternoon. There are food and drink specials from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Guests can ride the Glenwood Gondola free with the ad that appears each Friday in the Glenwood Springs Post Independent.

Winter on the Mountain Kick-off Party at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park

Saturday, Nov. 23 – early January

The park dazzles with a half million lights, a giant musical Christmas tree, fire pits for roasting s’mores, lighted nighttime rides on the Alpine Coaster and more. Santa will be on hand for the kick-off, and guests can get a free gondola ride and park admission with grocery store gift cards or canned food items for the local food pantry from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. The kick-off party begins at 6:00 p.m. Winter on the Mountain holiday activities run through early January; the lights stay up until the end of February.

Holiday Show

Friday, Nov. 22 – Saturday, Jan. 4

Celebrating 10 years of laughter, The Glenwood Vaudeville Revue Holiday Show is a two-hour family fun dinner theater show with professional talent performing a variety of holiday themed comedy skits, jokes, high energy dance numbers, unique novelty songs and original comedic presentations that are guaranteed to entertain and help laugh worries away.

The Hotel Colorado’s 30th Annual Lighting Ceremony

Friday, Nov. 29

For 30 years Glenwood Springs’ residents and visitors have gathered at one of the town’s most recognizable landmarks—The Hotel Colorado—for the traditional kick off to the holiday season. On Friday, Nov. 29, this year’s event begins at 1:30 p.m., inside the Hotel Colorado with festive live music to meet the arrival of Santa Claus. Free entertainment includes the Denver Dolls, Rodrigo, bagpipe players the Glenfinnan Highlanders, the Legacy Dance Company, the Liberty Classical School Choir and an ROTC flag presentation. Throughout the day from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., visitors can also stop by the Christmas in the Rockies Craft Fair located in the hotel. At 6:00 p.m., activities transition outside to the Main Stage where dignitaries will welcome guests and performers with the annual lighting ceremony and fireworks officially kicking off the holiday season.

A Family-Friendly New Year’s Eve Celebration 

Tuesday, Dec. 31
Around the globe, people ring in the new year on Dec. 31, but only in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, can they soak in the world’s largest mineral hot springs pool until the wee hours of the new year. Open until 1 a.m., Glenwood Hot Springs Resort welcomes celebrants of all ages to join in the alcohol-free merriment that includes a schedule of games and activities for all ages, party hats, noisemakers, giveaways and, of course, a countdown to the New Year. Watch the community’s fireworks at 10 p.m., while soaking in the pool. The fireworks are part of a celebration being held just over the pedestrian bridge from on 7th Street that will include three live bands that start at 6, 8 and 10:30 p.m., and play until midnight.

RING IN THE NEW YEAR IN GLENWOOD SPRINGS

Tuesday, Dec. 31

The City of Glenwood Springs is hosting the first major event on the beautiful the 7th Street Festival Plaza. Ring in 2020 with the inaugural Grand New Year’s Celebration in downtown Glenwood Springs for an evening filled with live music, food vendors, fireworks and more.

The evening kicks-off with at 6:00pm with local band favorite, The Mixx. At 8:00 p.m., nationally recognized artist Zach Deputy takes the stage for a 90-minute set filled with original looping instrumentals and vocals. To ensure a majority of families can enjoy the firework show, the unique aerial display for the East Coast New Year’s “Ball-Drop” will begin at 10:00 p.m. The amazing evening of festivities will conclude with a performance by nationally recognized headliner, Ripe.

Deck the Walls

Friday, Nov. 22 – Sunday, Dec. 28

Join Carbondale Arts for its annual Deck the Walls holiday show at The Launchpad. Deck the Walls will be open 7 days a week in December.  Carbondale Arts transforms the R2 Gallery into a shop filled with artisanal goods created by local and regional artists from all over the Roaring Fork Valley

and Colorado.  On December 21 and 22, The Launchpad will also feature a Winter Farmers’ Market & Pop Up, complete with fresh baked goods, pies, and vegetables.

Redstone Grand Illumination

Friday, Nov. 29
Luminaries line the village, giant bonfire, Santa, holiday music and magic. It will Santa’s First Visit Ice Climbing. Ice climbing is plentiful in the Crystal River Valley in winter, a mere 15 minutes away from Carbondale, it’s home to over 50 superb ice flows of all difficulties, including Marble Falls, the Redstone Pillar, and Avocado Gully.

Light Up Carbondale

Friday, Dec. 6

The Town of Carbondale Parks and Rec Department along with Carbondale Arts invites everyone to light up Carbondale and welcome Santa on December’s First Friday. The lights on the trees lining Main Street will come alive when Santa reaches the 4th Street Plaza. There will be carolers, free hot chocolate, and cookies. Great free family event.

Annual Cup Auction

Friday, Dec. 6

Join the Carbondale Clay Center at COVENTURE from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., for the 22nd Annual Cup Auction. This event serves as one of the Clay Center’s biggest fundraisers and features hundreds of original, handmade ceramic cups for bid via silent auction. Each year, the Cup Auction gains more popularity, drawing collectors from all over the Roaring Fork Valley to this one-night-only auction opportunity. The cups range from quirky mugs to elegant tumblers, from wild shot cups to refined tea bowls, and everything in-between.

Family Skate Night/Free Community Party

Friday, Jan. 3
Everyone is welcome to come on down to the 4th Street Plaza Ice Rink on January’s First Friday for a free Community Party. There will be a fire pit to roast hot dogs and marshmallows and free hot chocolate. Ice skate rentals will be available at the Carbondale Rec Center until 9:00 p.m.

Holiday Tree Lightings / Light Up Willits & Merry on Midland

Friday, Dec. 6 (Light Up Willits) & December 13 (Merry on Midland)
The Town of Basalt hosts two different evenings to get into the holiday spirit with Light Up Willits and Merry on Midland. Both events include horse drawn carriages, caroling, s’more roasting, a tree lighting, and of course – Santa and Mrs. Claus. The evenings are family-friend and a wonderful opportunity to get out, enjoy the community and do a little holiday shopping.

Menorah Lighting

Sunday, Dec. 22 (First day of Hanukkah)
The Town of Basalt, in collaboration with the Aspen Jewish Congregation, hosts a menorah lighting ceremony on the first day of Hanukkah. The Aspen Jewish Congregation can provide additional details about the event, which are available in the weeks leading up to the Festival of Light.
