Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park reopens Saturday, March 16, for spring break

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (March 15, 2019) — After being closed for four and a half months for the construction of the new Glenwood Gondola, Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is reopening on Saturday, March 16, just in time for spring break visitors. Rather than the 44 cabins that the gondola will ultimately feature, there are 17 on the line now that will transport guests this month.

“You’ve heard the saying ‘on a slow boat from China’ before. Well, 27 of the gondola cabins were on a broken ship stuck in France,” park general manager Nancy Heard explained. “It took some time to find a new ship, but they are now in transit and scheduled to arrive later this month. We’ve decided our best course of action is to go ahead and open with 17 cabins so that our spring break guests aren’t disappointed.”

Beginning Saturday, the park’s winter attractions will be open—the Alpine Coaster, Haunted Mine Drop, both walking cave tours, the laser tag arena and 4D Motion Theater. The Lookout Grille and General Store gift shop will be open as well.

Heard added, “Even with 17 cabins, the Glenwood Gondola provides a smooth, quick ride to the top with no stops along the way. We are eagerly looking forward to the improved service it will provide as we move into our busy season with all 44 cabins online.”

The park will close for one or two days the first week in April to install the remaining 27 gondola cabins, then reopen. A grand opening celebration is planned for Saturday, April 20. More information about the closure and the grand opening will be posted at and
